background to Global Diagnostics

Global Diagnostics started out as Imaging The South over 15 years ago in Western Australia and has now become a leading international provider of diagnostic imaging services.

Originally founded by Dr Johnny Walker, his inspiration to set up the company was based on his belief that people in rural and regional communities should have access to the highest standard of diagnostic imaging services previously only available in metropolitan areas of Western Australia.

From humble beginnings in Bunbury in Western Australia, the company's vision to capitalise on emerging technologies to improve service delivery has seen the company grow from strenght to strenght. On the back of the Imaging the South's success, Dr Walker recognized that demand for the innovative service was not constrained to Australian borders. In 2001, the model was exported to the UK and from there to Ireland in 2007 as Global Diagnostics.

In 2008, Global Diagnostics (UK, Ireland and Imaging The South - Australia) merged with Centric Health (www.centrichealth.ie ) an Irish primary health care company and has undergone a period of substantial organic growth in the period.

Global Diagnostics is now a leading international provider of diagnostic imaging services and now provides:

  • Imaging managed services in the UK to the NHS (National Health Service), Independent Managed Hospitals, medical facilities and also operates a series of stand alone medical imaging practices.
  • Imaging managed services in Ireland to the HSE (Health Service Executive), private hospitals, community health centres and private clinics
  • Radiology and Teleradiology services to WACHS (Western Australia Country Health Service), private medical facilities, public hospitals and community centres and operate a series of stand alone medical imaging practices across Western Australia.
